Coordinated Care is preparing for Mental Health Awareness Month in May by emphasizing the importance of mental health education and stigma reduction. This Tacoma-based managed care organization serves over 300,000 members, including those on Medicaid, Medicare, and in foster care, with a focus on holistic health. The urgency of their mission is underscored by alarming statistics revealing that Pierce County has suicide and overdose rates significantly above national averages. In response to these challenges, Coordinated Care has invested more than $1. 1 million in grants aimed at expanding the behavioral health workforce and providing essential training for community providers.

CEO Beth Johnson highlights the organization's commitment to building partnerships and addressing local needs. Senior Director of Behavioral Health Services, Jessica Molberg, shares statistics from the CDC that demonstrate the critical state of mental health in the region. By promoting trauma-informed care and enhancing community resources, Coordinated Care seeks to empower individuals and foster whole-person wellness. Their proactive approach aims to mitigate the impact of the ongoing mental health crisis exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
