Snohomish County Completes Mountain Bike Feasibility Study Identifies Preferred Sites
Snohomish County has announced the completion of its Mountain Bike Feasibility Study, identifying O’Reilly Acres and Three Lakes Hill as preferred locations for a future mountain bike park system. This initiative is designed to provide diverse trails for riders of all skill levels and facilitate community events and gatherings. Sharon Walker, the Director of Snohomish County Parks & Recreation, highlighted the community's expressed need for such facilities during the Lord Hill Park Preferred Plan process. The study incorporated input from stakeholders, including user groups and county officials, and utilized GIS analysis, site visits, and environmental assessments. Local mountain bike advocate Jordan La Croix expressed excitement about the study's findings and the recognition of the biking community's needs.
The next steps involve selecting one site and developing a refined concept, with initial implementation focusing on essential amenities and trail networks. The project aligns with the county's commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities and supporting local economic growth. Design and permitting efforts are projected to take two to three years, with the aim of completing the project within five years.
