Snohomish County Now Accepting Applications for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program
Snohomish County is now welcoming applications for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP), aimed at assisting low-income seniors in purchasing fresh, locally sourced food. This initiative supports healthier dietary choices while bolstering local farming through increased participation in farmers markets and community-supported agriculture. Eligible seniors can receive an $80 pre-loaded benefit card to spend at participating markets and stands, which can significantly impact their nutrition and overall health. The program is available to residents aged 60 and older, or 55 and older for Native Americans, with income limits set at $2,413 per month for individuals. Applications are accepted both online and via mail, with an application deadline of May 5, 2025.
This year, the SFMNP has already helped over 2,700 seniors gain access to fresh produce, showcasing its vital role in the community. For those needing assistance with the application process, support is available through the Snohomish County Aging and Disabilities Resource Network. The program is sponsored by reputable agencies, underscoring its credibility and importance in the region.
