Red Bridge 537 is Slated for Repairs and a Fresh Coat of Red Paint

Snohomish, WALocal News

Snohomish County Public Works plans to start preventive maintenance on Red Bridge 537 in June 2025, which includes a new coat of Insignia Red paint. This bridge, built in 1954, has experienced various color transformations over the decades, but the upcoming restoration aims to honor its historical context. Public Works Director Kelly Snyder noted that the bridge was originally blue before being painted beige in the 1970s, and finally red in the early 1990s. The maintenance work will involve the careful removal of lead-based paint, adhering to strict health and environmental guidelines. Located next to the popular Red Bridge Campground, visitors can expect some construction noise during weekdays, but the campground and Mountain Loop Hwy will remain accessible.

Construction is scheduled to continue until October 2025, with single lane closures expected along the highway. Residents can stay informed about the progress by signing up for construction updates through the county's website. This project not only preserves a local landmark but also enhances safety for motorists and pedestrians alike.
