New Snohomish City Hall PD campus designs shown, funding plan nearly done

Snohomish, WALocal News

The Snohomish Civic Campus project aims to consolidate key city services into a new facility at Third Street and Pine Avenue, addressing significant space constraints of the current City Hall. With a projected cost of $72. 7 million, the funding plan includes a $700,000 state grant and requests for $3 million in federal earmarks and $8. 5 million from state capital funds. City Administrator Heather Thomas-Murphy is set to outline the funding strategy at a City Council meeting on February 18.

The project will also involve selling the existing City Hall and other properties to raise an estimated $3. 85 million. The design emphasizes sustainability, featuring brick, masonry, and exposed wood beams, alongside a pedestrian-friendly walking path overlooking the Pilchuck River. As the city collaborates with Fire District 4, construction is slated to begin in 2026, with an anticipated completion date in late 2027. This initiative is critical for enhancing public safety and streamlining city services for the growing community.

Local leaders emphasize the importance of "smart-funding" to ensure effective resource allocation for projects like this.
