Rush applies to build triplexes in Purdy ahead of zoning change

Gig Harbor, WALocal News

Rush Companies is moving forward with plans to build 90 new triplexes in Purdy, Washington, through its Purdy Interchange South project, as they filed a permit application with Pierce County Planning and Public Works. The project aims to utilize 18. 64 acres of land near Purdy Elementary School, featuring 30 planned triplexes served by private roads. This initiative is particularly timely, as Pierce County is set to downzone the area under its updated comprehensive plan, which could significantly limit future development opportunities. By filing the application before the new zoning regulations take effect, Rush Companies aims to secure its development rights under the current Mixed Use Dwelling (MUD) zoning classification.

The company has also sold adjacent land to the Peninsula School District, solidifying essential infrastructure connections for its project. As the county’s updated plan awaits final approval, the real estate activity in Purdy highlights the urgency of securing development permits amidst regulatory changes. The project not only addresses housing needs but also reflects broader trends in land use and urban planning within the region. Rush Companies remains committed to navigating these changes while fostering community growth.
