WeHo Reads 2024 Fall Season Launch: Celebrating LGBTQ+ Stories and Communities
The City of West Hollywood is launching its WeHo Reads literary series for the fall season of 2024, beginning with a virtual event on October 9 to celebrate National Coming Out Day. This opening event, titled 'WeHo Reads: Creating Queer Families and Communities,' will feature discussions led by authors and poets about the significance of coming out and the formation of LGBTQ+ families. Notable speakers include Meliza Bañales, Lane Igoudin, and Hazel Kight Witham, who will share their insights and experiences. Following this, the series will continue with 'WeHo Reads: Imagining and Building Restorative Communities' on November 20, where authors will explore societal connections and love, featuring Ryane Nicole Granados, PJ Manney, and Sarah Rafael Garcia, alongside a poem by City Poet Laureate Jen Cheng. The final event of the season will occur in person on December 11, focusing on queer perspectives through literature and photography, featuring Charles Jensen, Manuel Betancourt, and Aaron Jay Young, also introduced by an original poem from Jen Cheng.
All events are free and will be streamed live on the WeHo Arts YouTube channel.
