Local seamstress Annette Knight hopes to mask the effects of the coronavirus
Annette Knight, a skilled seamstress and medical assistant at The Doctors Clinic in Silverdale, has been making masks to support healthcare workers during the coronavirus pandemic. With a lifetime of sewing experience, she has personally crafted around 200 masks and coordinated efforts with local seamstresses from the Kitsap Quilters Guild, resulting in over 500 masks delivered to local medical facilities. Knight's home has transformed into a makeshift manufacturing site, highlighting her dedication to addressing the urgent need for protective equipment. The Kitsap Masks for Caregivers Facebook group, which has grown to over 430 members, showcases the community's commitment to a common goal—protecting frontline workers. Knight's work extends beyond her clinic, as she has also made masks for assisted living centers and private practices.
As the pandemic continues, Knight remains proactive, ensuring that healthcare professionals have the necessary protection. 'It's one mask at a time to save a life,' she emphasizes, underlining the importance of her efforts. Her story exemplifies how individual actions can significantly impact community well-being during challenging times.
