Knights of Columbus to host peninsula-wide food drive Sunday

Silverdale, WALocal News

The Knights of Columbus are organizing a peninsula-wide food drive on June 28, 2020, to collect canned goods and non-perishable items for local food banks in Kitsap Peninsula. This effort is part of their 'Leave No Neighbor Behind' campaign, which aims to provide vital support during the COVID-19 pandemic. The food drive will run from noon to 3 p. m. at various locations, including St.

Olaf’s Catholic Church in Poulsbo, where donations will benefit Fishline, and other sites in Bremerton, Port Orchard, Silverdale, Gig Harbor, and Belfair. Some churches, like Star of the Sea in Bremerton, will hold drives on different days, such as June 27. Larry Devlin, program director for KC Help in Poulsbo, noted that similar drives are happening nationwide, reflecting a collective effort to assist those in need. Beneficiaries of this food drive include St. Vincent de Paul, St.

Gabriel Care and Share, and several local food banks. This initiative not only addresses immediate food insecurity but also strengthens community bonds during these challenging times, exemplifying the spirit of solidarity within the Kitsap Peninsula community.
