A New Dog Park is Coming to Land Park Help Decide the Location
Sacramento's Department of Youth, Parks & Community Enrichment (YPCE) is hosting an open house on October 23, 2024, at Belle Cooledge Library to engage residents in selecting a new dog park location within William Land Park. This event follows a community survey conducted earlier this summer, which garnered insights from over 1,600 residents about their preferences for dog parks in the Land Park and Curtis Park areas. During the open house, attendees will review survey findings, evaluate the pros and cons of the two leading location options—Freeport and 14th Avenue or the Land Park panhandle—and provide input on key design elements. Residents will also have the unique opportunity to vote on their favorite site, ensuring that the new park reflects community desires and needs. In addition to planning for the dog park, the city aims to enhance overall community spaces, providing safe and enjoyable environments for both dogs and their owners.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a photo of their dog to contribute to a "Best in Bark" display outside the library. While dogs are not permitted inside the library, they are welcome at the event. The city is committed to moving forward with the dog park project while keeping future developments in Curtis Park in mind as funding becomes available.
