Sacramento City Council to Vote on 321 Million Soccer Stadium and Entertainment Venue Proposal
The Sacramento City Council is preparing to vote on a transformative $321 million proposal to build a soccer stadium for Sacramento Republic FC and a live entertainment venue within the Downtown Railyards. The project, supported by the Wilton Rancheria Tribe, aims to revitalize the area while creating about 910 jobs through the stadium and an additional 390 jobs from the entertainment venue. The stadium will feature 12,000 seats, with a significant portion of the funding—$226 million—allocated for its construction and infrastructure. In addition, the project includes a live entertainment venue that will accommodate 3,600 guests, funded by $95 million in private investment. A robust community benefits package will offer $4.
5 million in charitable contributions and various youth programs. The financing strategy involves expanding the Stadium Enhanced Infrastructure Financing District, which will use increased property tax revenue for infrastructure improvements over 45 years. City officials, including Mayor Steinberg, view this initiative as a vital step toward enhancing Sacramento's economic landscape and cultural offerings. With both venues scheduled for completion in late 2026 and 2027, the project is poised to significantly impact the local community and economy.
