A shooting and stabbing incident erupted at Sky Harbor Airport's Terminal 4 during the busy Christmas evening travel period, resulting in three individuals sustaining gunshot wounds and one suffering stab injuries. The police responded swiftly to reports of gunfire at approximately 9:41 p. m. MST, leading to a temporary shelter-in-place order that was lifted around 10:30 p. m.

Following the incident, the airport returned to normal operations, although access to certain gates remained restricted during the investigation. The victims included one adult female with life-threatening injuries and two adult males in stable condition. Phoenix Police Sgt. Mayra Reeson stated that all individuals involved were known to each other, emphasizing that there was no threat to the general public. A man and a juvenile girl were detained after the incident, with the man requiring hospitalization for stab wounds.

While no arrests were made, all weapons were recovered by law enforcement. The police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the group's presence at the airport, leaving open questions about their travel intentions.
