Public invited to explore human story during anthropology open house at Edmonds College Feb. 28, March 7
Edmonds College's Anthropology department invites the community to attend two free open houses on February 28 and March 7, running from 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. The event will be held in Mountlake Terrace Hall, room 220, allowing guests to explore a rich collection of anthropological artifacts and models.
Among the highlights is a replica of Lucy, the first hominin species, which serves as a gateway to understanding our ancient ancestors. Ashley Pickard, the Anthropology Department Head, notes that the open house offers a unique opportunity to engage with real artifacts from recent archaeological excavations, providing visitors with surprising insights into human evolution. The college offers a variety of anthropology courses that are beneficial to students from all disciplines, emphasizing the subject's relevance in developing valuable skills for diverse careers. Short-term parking is available in Lot L, with additional visitor permits for lots K and P. This open house not only showcases the department's resources but also aims to make anthropology accessible to everyone, encouraging a broader appreciation for the field.
