Free Yard Waste Disposal Event

Chelan, WALocal News

The City of Chelan is set to host a free yard waste disposal event on April 18 and 19, 2025, from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Chelan Transfer Station. This community-focused initiative aims to facilitate spring cleaning while significantly addressing wildfire risks. Residents can dispose of accepted materials such as trees (up to 12 inches in diameter and 8 feet long), leaves, and pine needles, but must refrain from bringing rocks, plastic bags, grass clippings, sod, or weeds. By creating a defensible space of 100 feet around homes, residents can play a crucial role in wildfire prevention. The event underscores the collaborative efforts of the Cascadia Conservation District, Chelan County Public Works, and City of Chelan Public Works in promoting community safety.

Encouraging participation in this event not only helps in maintaining a clean environment but also fosters a sense of collective responsibility towards wildfire preparedness. As wildfires become an increasing threat in many regions, such initiatives are vital for ensuring the safety of communities. Residents are urged to take advantage of this opportunity to contribute to a safer Chelan.
