Manson School Districts Innovative TTK Program Shines During Special Visit
On April 15, 2025, Manson School District welcomed key educational leaders, including Samantha Bowen from OSPI, to observe its Transition to Kindergarten (TTK) program. The visitors witnessed firsthand how teacher Leanna Cochran engages students through a thoughtful blend of academics and play-based learning. One memorable activity involved marshmallow Peeps, where students described their experiences using all five senses, showcasing the program's innovative methods. Principal Ben Riippi later hosted an informal discussion about the program's implementation, focusing on its successes and potential areas for improvement. He emphasized the significance of having state recognition, stating, "What we’re doing here matters.
" Manson's approach, which integrates TTK with the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP), demonstrates a commitment to whole-child development and community partnerships. This model could serve as an inspiration for other districts across Washington. The district's dedication to innovative, play-based learning is laying a powerful foundation for future student success.
