SR 202 will close for five days Sept. 15-20
Beginning at 8 p. m. on Sunday, September 15, both directions of State Route 202 will be closed just north of Northeast 124th Street until noon on Friday, September 20. This closure is necessary for the installation of a new culvert aimed at improving fish passage in two creeks that feed into Sammamish Creek. The Washington State Department of Transportation is overseeing this project, which will allow for the movement of coho, resident trout, steelhead, sockeye, and sea-run cutthroat fish.
Motorists will have to use signed detours that direct them through Northeast 124th Street, Interstate 405, and SR 522, while local businesses will remain accessible from the Woodinville direction. Pedestrians and cyclists are encouraged to utilize the Sammamish River Trail during the closure period. In addition to the five-day closure, a subsequent 10-day continuous closure of the right turn lane from eastbound SR 202 to westbound Northeast 124th Street is set to follow. This project, which began in mid-July with the combination of local creeks, is expected to significantly enhance local fish habitats.
