New Mural by Timothy Robert Smith Celebrates West Hollywood's 40th Anniversary
The City of West Hollywood has proudly announced the installation of a new mural by renowned artist Timothy Robert Smith, displayed on the east-facing façade of City Hall. This mural celebrates the city's 40th anniversary and features celebrated drag performers Jasmine Masters, Cake Moss, and Pickle, the inaugural Drag Laureate. Smith's photo-realistic depiction captures their larger-than-life presence against a bright blue sky and fantastical landscape, symbolizing daily life in West Hollywood. Elements such as a playful dog, the PickUp trolley, and iconic local landmarks are artistically integrated into the mural. Timothy Robert Smith, based in Los Angeles, is recognized for his innovative approach to perception and space, with works showcased in various prestigious venues.
The mural is part of the Art on the Outside program, which installs rotating art throughout the city, with exhibitions lasting from six months to three years. This initiative is funded through the Public Beautification & Art Fund, highlighting the city's commitment to public art. The mural will remain on display until June 2026, enriching West Hollywood's vibrant cultural identity.
