HIGH HEAT ADVISORY: City of West Hollywood to Activate Cooling Center at Plummer Park
The City of West Hollywood has announced the activation of a Cooling Center at Plummer Park due to a Heat Advisory prompted by soaring temperatures across Southern California. The Cooling Center will be open on August 19, 20, and an additional day on August 21, 2024, operating from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m.
to provide a safe refuge for residents. Situated at the Community Center Senior Lounge, the center is part of the city’s initiative to protect public health during extreme heat events. In addition, the city offers free transportation through its Cityline service, which operates Monday through Saturday and is fully ADA-compliant. Officials emphasize the dangers of high heat, particularly for children and pets, and urge residents to avoid leaving them unattended in parked vehicles. The city also provides tips for keeping cool, such as staying hydrated and avoiding outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.
