Central Oregon’s Kah-Nee-Ta Hot Springs Resort to reopen after $13M remodel
The Kah-Nee-Ta Hot Springs Resort, situated on the Warm Springs reservation in central Oregon, is set to reopen on July 17, 2024, after a comprehensive $13 million renovation. This long-awaited reopening marks a significant milestone for the resort, which had been closed for six years due to financial challenges. The renovation features 30 pools, including hot springs mineral pools, cold plunges, and soaking tubs, alongside 30 motel rooms, 20 tipis, and 70 RV parking spots. Infrastructure improvements include upgrades to all underground utilities, ensuring a modern and efficient facility. The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs have partnered with the owners of Mt.
Hood Skibowl to revitalize this beloved destination, which is crucial for the local economy. The kitchen will be led by Starla Green, who plans to bring back traditional favorites like fry bread and baked salmon, along with a seasonal winter menu. During its initial days, the resort opened exclusively to tribal members, with discounted rates available for those presenting tribal identification. The reopening is anticipated to not only create jobs but also restore a sense of community and joy, as expressed by Green, emphasizing the resort as a "happy place.
