Visalia Unified School District holding meetings to ask for input on its facilities plan
The Visalia Unified School District is embarking on an ambitious initiative called "Forward 2030," designed to solicit community input on the district's facilities planning for the future. Superintendent Kirk Shrum has stated that the strategic plan will not only focus on educational programs and student outcomes but also on essential resources and accommodations required for long-term success. Chief Operations Officer Erik Keher emphasizes the importance of early community engagement, stating that gathering feedback is crucial as the district considers both short-term and long-term needs, including school population size and potential construction projects. To facilitate this engagement, a dedicated website has been launched, providing background information and a platform for questions. A series of seven community meetings will be held throughout the fall, with at least one session to be recorded for online access.
These meetings are an opportunity for residents to voice their concerns and suggestions, ensuring that the district's decisions reflect the community's needs. Shrum and Keher both express their commitment to making recommendations based on collective input, aiming to instill confidence in the decision-making process. The community's involvement is seen as pivotal to the development of a successful educational environment for the future.
