Matthew Weatherman, a 40-year-old resident of Astoria, Oregon, was critically injured in a car accident in December, prompting his mothers, Susan and Colleen Carette, to rush to his side in the hospital. While in intensive care, Matthew's emotional distress over his lost dog, Bravery, who had fled during the chaotic rescue, was palpable. Susan and Colleen decided to involve their other dog, Daisy, in the search, joining a team of rescuers to locate Bravery in the dense forest. After several hours of searching, Daisy found Bravery and successfully led her back to where Susan was waiting, showcasing the remarkable bond between the dogs. This reunion not only brought joy to Matthew but also greatly impacted his recovery, as he was able to see and interact with Bravery shortly after.

The emotional weight of the rescue resonated deeply, illustrating how companionship can foster healing during crises. The story has garnered national attention, highlighting the unique relationship between pets and their humans in times of hardship.
