East Fraser Lands (EFL) parks City of Vancouver
The East Fraser Lands (EFL) project in Vancouver aims to create 25. 2 acres of parks to serve a new community of approximately 12,000 residents. Spearheaded by Wesgroup, the Vancouver Park Board has prioritized community engagement, gathering input through open houses and surveys since 2016. The recently opened South Kinross Park showcases the successful integration of a playground and waterfront access, providing a recreational space for residents. Looking ahead, construction for Foreshore Park is set to commence in fall 2024, with an anticipated opening in summer 2025.
These parks are being designed with flood protection and future sea-level rise in mind, ensuring resilience in the face of climate challenges. The ongoing public engagement reflects a commitment to aligning the parks' designs with community needs and aspirations. Notably, the development process has evolved through various phases, with several parks already operational and others in the pipeline. This project exemplifies a collaborative approach to urban development, emphasizing the importance of green spaces in enhancing community well-being.
