UPDATE: Power restored after brief NIPSCO outage in Porter County affects thousands

Power has been restored to thousands of NIPSCO customers in Porter County after a brief outage affected nearly 6,000 residents in Chesterton and surrounding areas. As of Thursday evening, the outages impacted approximately 1,500 customers in Valparaiso and more than 500 in Porter. The rapid response from NIPSCO ensured that service was quickly resumed for those affected.
