Edo Tokyo Kirari Project Works to be displayed at the International MAISON & OBJET Exhibition in Paris
In a significant cultural showcase, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) will present the Edo Tokyo Kirari Project at the MAISON & OBJET Exhibition in Paris this January. The exhibition will feature the works of twelve traditional craftmakers, emphasizing the beauty and value of Edo-era goods. This initiative aims to reposition these crafts as representative brands of Tokyo while promoting their significance globally. The collaboration between TMG and Paris, formalized in a joint declaration in 2021, has led to the creation of new products by Tokyo artisans and Parisian designers, blending distinct styles. The event will also include a business conference at the historic Hôtel de Lauzun, further promoting the Edo Tokyo Kirari Project and its collaborative efforts.
By showcasing these crafts, TMG hopes to foster cultural exchange and elevate the profile of traditional Japanese craftsmanship on an international stage. The partnership with Paris reflects a commitment to innovation while honoring heritage. This exhibition is a timely opportunity for global engagement in the design and craft sectors.
