The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has officially selected a prospective operator for the Tsukiji District Development Project, a significant initiative aimed at revitalizing this historically rich area of Tokyo. The decision comes after a careful review process conducted by the Tsukiji District Development Project Selection Committee, which evaluated proposals from various applicants. The selected operator, a consortium known as ONE PARK × ONE TOWN, includes major players such as Mitsui Fudosan, Toyota Motor Corporation, and several other esteemed firms. This project seeks to create a cultural hub that promotes sustainable growth while showcasing the appeal of Japanese cuisine and culture to an international audience. The development will utilize approximately 194,679.

11 square meters of Metropolitan Government-owned land, with a proposed lease fee set at JPY 4,497 per month per square meter. The project is envisioned as a space for diverse exchanges among visitors, enhancing Tokyo's status as a global city. Feedback from the Selection Committee emphasized the need for designs that resonate with Japan's cultural identity and appeal to the public. This announcement marks a crucial step in the ongoing efforts to rejuvenate the Tsukiji area while preserving its cultural significance.
