Secret Service agent placed on leave, under investigation for alleged sexual misconduct involving Harris staffer

The United States Secret Service said on Wednesday that one of its agents has been placed on administrative leave as it investigates a “misconduct allegation” related to a member of Vice President Kamala Harris' staff. The Secret Service is nearing the completion of its “mission assurance review” after a 20-year-old gunman perched on a nearby warehouse rooftop opened fire on Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, wounding the former president in the right ear. Sources familiar with the matter told The Associated Press that an agent was accused of groping a member of Harris' staff. The agent and the Harris staffer were in the state to prepare for a campaign event that was rescheduled, according to the reports. Senior officials in the Office of the Vice President “were alerted by the USSS about an incident involving an agent,” according to a spokesperson.

“The Office of the Vice President take the safety of staff seriously. We have zero tolerance for sexual misconduct,” the spokesperson said. Harris’ presidential campaign did not respond to a request for comment and neither her government office nor the Secret Service expanded on the allegation, but multiple.
