Two dead in wrong-way crash on Suncoast Parkway, troopers say

Two drivers died early Saturday when one hit the other while traveling the wrong direction on the Suncoast Parkway in Hernando County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened just north of County Line Road shortly before 1 a. m. A 45-year-old Homosassa man was driving a Volkswagen Jetta south in the northbound lanes of the highway, also called State Road 589, troopers said. He hit a northbound Honda Odyssey driven by a 47-year-old woman from Homosassa, according to the Highway Patrol.
Both vehicles flipped, and the drivers died at the scene. Two passengers in the Honda, both 20 years old, suffered injuries.
