Game store robbed twice in two weeks

Tampa Bay, FLLocal News

'R U Game? ', a gaming store located in Tampa, has fallen victim to two armed robberies in a span of just two weeks, raising concerns about safety for small businesses in the area. Owner Shane Butcher recounted the first robbery, where a man wearing a blue mask posed as a customer before brandishing a weapon and stealing a PlayStation 4. The second incident mirrored the first, with the suspect returning in a different hoodie but the same mask, this time demanding a PlayStation 5. Butcher expressed his frustration and sadness over the targeting of his store, which has served the community for many years.

He highlighted that gaming consoles are kept behind the counter to prevent theft, yet this precaution proved inadequate. The store's security cameras were unfortunately down during the second robbery, hindering the investigation. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is currently looking into both incidents, and Butcher has urged the community to be vigilant. This series of events has sparked a dialogue about the safety and security of local businesses amidst rising crime.
