David Lominack Jr. , a 33-year-old man from Holiday, was arrested on multiple charges after a traffic incident on U. S. 19 that injured a Pinellas County sheriff's deputy. The crash occurred when Deputy James Bonanno attempted to stop Lominack for suspected DUI, leading Lominack to abruptly slam on his brakes.
This action caused Bonanno to rear-end Lominack's Dodge Ram, triggering a chain reaction that involved three other vehicles. Fortunately, while Bonanno sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, the other drivers involved were unharmed. After fleeing the scene, Lominack was located by law enforcement hiding behind bushes near his abandoned truck. Authorities reported that Lominack exhibited a breath alcohol content of 0. 199, more than double the legal limit, and speed appeared to be a contributing factor in the crash.
He now faces serious charges, including DUI with injury, leaving the scene of an accident, and possession of marijuana. This incident highlights the dangers of impaired driving and the potential consequences not just for offenders, but also for law enforcement and the public.
