Brianna Sands, a 26-year-old woman, was arrested in Miami after allegedly shooting three women in a parking lot during an election night gathering. The shooting occurred shortly after midnight on November 6, when Sands, who appeared heavily intoxicated, became agitated during a conversation about the election. Witnesses reported that the group was enjoying drinks when Sands pulled a gun from her back pocket and began firing, injuring three women. The Miami Police Department utilized its ShotSpotter system, which detected seven rounds being fired at the scene. Responding officers later stopped a speeding Hyundai Genesis, where one victim was found with a gunshot wound and transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Despite initial confusion, all three victims were able to identify Sands as the shooter during subsequent police photo lineups. Sands now faces multiple charges, including three counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon. She remains in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as investigations continue.
