Justin Timberlake is preparing to plead guilty to a lesser charge of "driving while ability impaired" following his June arrest for drunken driving in Sag Harbor, New York. The pop star, who initially pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge, is expected to formally submit his plea in Sag Harbor Village Court. The plea deal reportedly includes a fine between $300 and $500, along with a 90-day suspension of his driver's license. Timberlake's arrest occurred early on June 18, when police observed him running a stop sign and exhibiting signs of intoxication, such as bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. In court documents, police noted that Timberlake performed poorly on sobriety tests, and he claimed to have only consumed a martini while following friends home.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's office has not commented on the case, nor has Timberlake's attorney. The 10-time Grammy winner has largely remained silent on the incident, only hinting at it during a performance in Chicago shortly after his arrest. This case highlights the ongoing scrutiny celebrities face regarding their behavior and the legal ramifications that can follow.
