The city is progressing with the Tacoma Rescue Mission Men's Shelter Expansion project, which aims to significantly increase shelter capacity for men experiencing homelessness. A $1 million state grant has initiated a new Street Medicine pilot project, bringing essential healthcare directly to unsheltered individuals, while additional funding is enhancing opioid treatment programs. Furthermore, Tacoma is investing $2. 24 million into Permanent Supportive Housing services to provide stable housing and wraparound support for those facing chronic homelessness.

The city’s inclement weather response has also been robust, providing shelter and aid for 42 days during adverse conditions. Data-driven approaches are crucial, as demonstrated by the HEAL team’s successful placements and their ongoing support for individuals experiencing homelessness.
