Second Mission Thrift opens on 6th Ave.

The Tacoma Rescue Mission proudly opened its second thrift store, Mission Thrift West, on March 11, 2025, following the success of its first location on 6th Avenue. This new store, located at 6331 6th Ave. , aims to generate funds for vital TRM programs and services that assist local individuals and families in need. Director of Operations Mike Southard emphasized the community's generosity, noting that donors often contribute both new and gently used items. Inside the store, inspiring storyboards illustrate the Mission's positive impact, such as helping individuals like Charles access essential resources.

Employees, including Processing Manager Marty Hogan, share personal stories of transformation, highlighting the effectiveness of TRM's programs. Last year, TRM provided over 293,000 meals and 154,000 nights of shelter, demonstrating its commitment to helping the unhoused. The store continues the legacy of the former Life Center Thrift, maintaining strong community ties. Mission Thrift West represents a beacon of hope, showcasing the spirit of Tacoma in supporting those in need.
