Strickland Leads Delegation to Vietnam and China
Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland is leading a significant delegation to Vietnam and China from March 31 to April 10, aiming to attract foreign investment and promote the city's unique assets. The delegation will visit key cities, including Hanoi, Wuhan, Shanghai, and Beijing, to engage with existing and potential investors. Strickland highlighted Tacoma’s diverse population and strategic partnerships, which have positioned the city as an appealing international destination for investment and education. With over $275 million in foreign direct investments already committed to downtown Tacoma, this trip presents a critical opportunity to leverage those resources for further growth. Community and Economic Development Director Ricardo Noguera noted that the city is poised to attract additional private capital from both Vietnamese and Chinese investors, thereby enhancing its economic landscape.
The focus on Tacoma's education system, recreational opportunities, and thriving cultural scene underscores the city’s commitment to fostering a robust investment climate. As Tacoma continues to build its international relationships, the outcomes of this trip could significantly impact the city's future development. Strengthening these ties not only supports economic growth but also enriches the community through increased cultural exchange and collaboration.
