Interim Police Chief Start Date Delayed in Tacoma

Tacoma, WALocal News

Tacoma's Interim Police Chief, Patti Jackson, has experienced a delay in her start date, which is now set for no later than March 10, 2025, due to extended administrative processes. Initially scheduled to take over on February 24, Jackson's swearing-in will occur once all necessary procedures are finalized. During the interim, Deputy Chief Paul Junger will continue to serve as acting police chief until that date, after which Assistant Chief Frank Krause will assume the role. The city has emphasized the importance of completing these administrative steps to ensure a smooth transition in leadership. Following Jackson's installation, the city will begin the search for a permanent police chief, with plans to gather community input throughout the recruitment process.

Information on how residents can engage with this process will be made available on the city’s official website and social media channels. The situation reflects Tacoma's commitment to transparency and community involvement in law enforcement leadership decisions. As the city navigates this transition, residents are encouraged to stay informed and participate actively in shaping their police department's future.
