Classes resume at KWAs Lifelong Learning Center
The Korean Women’s Association’s Lifelong Learning Center is currently running its winter quarter of classes from January 6 to March 15, featuring a diverse curriculum aimed at enriching the lives of participants, particularly retirees. Coordinator Sarah Kim, who was instrumental in the center's creation, is dedicated to providing a welcoming environment that fosters both learning and social interaction. Many attendees are discovering new passions while combating loneliness through classes in music, art, sports, and technology. The most sought-after courses focus on computer and smartphone skills, which have become essential for many seniors. Participants have reported significant improvements in their daily lives, with one stating that learning technology has transformed her ability to connect with others after losing her spouse.
Additionally, the cooking class introduces students to various Asian cuisines, making the culinary experience more engaging. Kim highlights the importance of these classes in helping seniors create meaningful connections and find joy in their daily activities. Overall, the Lifelong Learning Center is making a positive impact on the community by empowering older adults through education and socialization.
