Lucy Haura, a 17-year-old fashion designer from St. Petersburg, Florida, has quickly established herself in the fashion world since she began designing in 2020. Her journey commenced with an adventurous trip to Goodwill, where she aimed to create a unique Halloween costume, leading her to explore further costume design. Joining a local theatre group enriched her experience and prompted her to participate in the Fashion Design at The Dalí program, where she drew inspiration from Dalí’s artwork. Haura integrates her passion for science into her designs, notably featuring DNA strands in her embroidery.
Her innovative approach caught the attention of St. Pete ArtWorks, resulting in her being named the Gulf Coast Arts Alliance Emerging Artist. This recognition allows her to showcase her work prominently at the St. Pete ArtWorks collaborative space during September. This opportunity highlights her talent and the growing support for young artists in the community.
Haura's story exemplifies how creativity can flourish from simple beginnings and inspire others.
