The Florida Department of Financial Services is preparing to open an "insurance village" in Clearwater, a significant initiative designed to aid residents impacted by recent storms. Scheduled for October 4 to October 6, 2024, the event will take place at the Clearwater Parks & Recreation Long Center. Participants will include over 40 insurance companies, which will provide initial claim checks to help residents start their recovery process. Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis highlighted the importance of this effort, stating it is vital for ensuring that those affected can access the resources they need promptly. The village will be open daily from 9 a.
m. to 5 p. m. , creating an accessible space for residents to engage with insurers directly. This initiative not only serves immediate needs but also reinforces the state's ongoing commitment to disaster recovery and support.
