The St. Petersburg Foundation (SPF) began operating the Lealman Exchange, a community hub in an underserved area of Pinellas County, in April 2022. Amy J. Cianci, the project manager, recently provided a positive update to county commissioners highlighting the foundation's impactful work. The Lealman Exchange is designed to serve over 20,000 residents and aims to uplift the community, particularly its youth, through various programs and partnerships.
SPF has successfully formed nearly 100 area partnerships to enhance the services offered at the hub. The initiative's focus has evolved from initial groundwork to long-term sustainability, utilizing a collective impact approach. Key improvements at the Lealman Exchange include a new commercial kitchen, basketball courts, and security upgrades, significantly enhancing the facility's functionality. A recently established onsite navigation system aims to assist anyone seeking help, ensuring comprehensive support for community needs. Events like "Reading with the Rays" further engage local youth and foster a sense of community.
