The Don Cesar, an iconic hotel in St. Petersburg, is celebrating its 95th anniversary through a series of events, including an artist showcase that reflects its rich history. The showcase, themed "If These Walls Could Talk," features local artist Bianca Burrows, who aims to capture the hotel's essence through her artwork. Built in 1928 by Thomas Rowe as a tribute to a woman he fell in love with, The Don has been a popular destination for notable figures, including U. S.

Presidents and celebrities like Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio. During World War II, the hotel was repurposed as a military hospital, earning the affectionate nickname "the love hospital" due to the many weddings that took place between servicemen and local women. After falling into disrepair in the 1960s, the hotel was saved by community efforts and reopened in 1973, eventually becoming a national landmark in 1974. The current celebrations mark a significant milestone for the hotel, emphasizing its importance in local history and culture. Samantha Weisberg, the hotel’s Marketing Manager, underscores the importance of recognizing the stories embedded in the hotel's walls.

Burrows' artwork, including a playful take on a champagne bottle titled "Don Perignon," adds a creative touch to the anniversary festivities.
