The iconic sign of the Sunken Gardens on St. Petersburg's 4th Street has been beautifully restored to echo its vintage 1960s charm, complete with a coral pink backdrop and an adjacent flower tower. This revitalization aims to attract visitors to the beloved Tampa Bay landmark, which now features a blend of state-of-the-art LED lights and nostalgic neon elements. Dwayne Biggs, the supervisor at Sunken Gardens, remarked on the significance of maintaining such historical signage, referring to it as a glimpse into "Old Florida. " The sign's transformation is part of a broader effort to preserve the region's roadside heritage, which is increasingly rare.

Jennifer Tyson, the education coordinator, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to revive this piece of history for the community. The new sign also aligns with the establishment of a history center that commemorates nearly 100 years of the Sunken Gardens' legacy. The project not only enhances the visual landscape but also serves as a reminder of the area's rich cultural history. This renovation is a testament to the city's commitment to preserving and celebrating its historical landmarks.
