Marilyn Parver, a St. Pete resident, transformed her passion for wildlife photography into a mission to assist the Maasai Tribe in Loita Hills, Kenya. After relocating to Kenya in 2012, she recognized the critical need for clean water within the community. Parver successfully built a well to provide the tribe with clean water, but she recently learned that it has broken down. In response to this crisis, she is now raising $13,000 to fund the repairs and ensure the tribe's access to vital resources.
The situation is dire, as Kenya is experiencing its worst drought in 40 years, leaving many without reliable water sources. Parver describes the conditions as so severe that finding water can require traveling 10 miles or more. She considers the Maasai Tribe her family and feels a deep responsibility to help them. Parver warns that without immediate assistance, the tribe's culture may face extinction due to the ongoing drought.
