Aero-Flite Inc. has officially opened a new 100,000-square-foot maintenance hangar at Spokane International Airport, marking a significant advancement in wildfire response capabilities for Washington State. General Manager Christopher Niemann stated that the need for more aircraft is driven by the changing dynamics of the fire season, which has extended beyond traditional months. Recent deployments to wildfire incidents in California and Texas highlight the increasing demand for aerial support. Washington Public Lands Commissioner Hilary Franz praised the collaboration between public and private sectors, emphasizing its necessity in effectively combating wildfires. She noted the tragic history of significant wildfires in Washington and the urgent need for improved resources and response strategies.
