Thousands of dollars of equipment stolen from Spanaway tattoo shop
On January 16, Fat Kat Art Studio in Spanaway, Washington, experienced a burglary that resulted in the theft of thousands of dollars' worth of tattoo equipment. Surveillance footage captured the incident, revealing a suspect who managed to steal items in under four minutes. Tattoo artist Rachel Hontz articulated the emotional pain of seeing their hard-earned tools taken, while owner Anna "Peanut" Knowlton described the significant financial impact on the business. The theft affected at least six artists, with some losing equipment that held deep sentimental value. Fellow artist Daniel Brown noted that this was not his first experience with theft, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by small businesses.
In light of the incident, Fat Kat has launched a crowdsourcing campaign to help recover their lost tools and upgrade their security system.
