WA DOL online services down until next week, offices to close

Snohomish, WALocal News

The Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) is temporarily suspending online services for driver and vehicle licensing due to system upgrades, lasting until February 18, 2025. This shutdown includes the closure of driver licensing offices from February 14 to 17, which will affect residents' ability to renew licenses and acquire new vehicle tabs. A previous announcement from the DOL indicated that these upgrades began on February 10 and would render many online services unavailable. Following the upgrades, the DOL expects significant wait times at licensing offices, prompting residents to schedule appointments online to ease the process. Some vehicle licensing offices may remain open but will not offer vehicle or vessel services during the shutdown.

Additionally, disruptions to prorate and fuel tax services will occur, with the online Taxpayer Access Point being unavailable. The DOL emphasizes that these upgrades will enhance customer service, improve security features, and provide better support for mobile devices. Residents should plan accordingly to navigate these temporary service interruptions effectively.
