Shoreline, WALocal News

The "Walk to the Future" event, held on July 24 at Edmonds-Woodway High School, successfully gathered the local community to raise nearly $17,000 for Parkinson's Disease research, organized by Pat Erickson's Pinky's Passion. Participants engaged in a variety of activities, including walking, skipping, and dancing, creating a festive and supportive atmosphere. Attendees were treated to a box lunch courtesy of Quizno's and enjoyed performances from local bands such as "Third Train Running," "Shearwater," and "The Phantoms. " A DeLorean was on display, bringing a whimsical touch to the event, although it lacked time-travel capabilities. The evening culminated in a poignant final lap walked by individuals currently living with Parkinson's, cheered on by their loved ones and accompanied by the anthem "We are the Champions.

" This event not only raised significant funds but also fostered community awareness and support for those affected by Parkinson's. Donations continue to be accepted on Pinky's Passion's website, encouraging further contributions to this vital cause. The successful turnout and spirited participation highlight the community's commitment to making a difference in the lives of those facing Parkinson's Disease.
