Thomas F. Drapac, the Commander of the Starr Sutherland Jr. Post No. 227 of the American Legion, passionately endorses the King County Veterans and Human Services Levy, sharing his personal narrative of struggle and recovery. As a Navy veteran who faced severe challenges due to alcohol abuse and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Drapac illustrates the transformative power of community support through local programs funded by the levy.

His experience of losing businesses, relationships, and stability over decades culminated in a journey toward healing, supported by the Salvation Army's transitional housing. Drapac highlights that the levy effectively allocates tax dollars to proven programs that assist veterans in need. While he acknowledges ongoing battles with PTSD, he has learned healthier coping strategies and now dedicates himself to helping others in similar situations. His editorial serves as a reminder of the importance of community involvement in supporting veterans' well-being. By sharing his story, Drapac calls on fellow community members to recognize the levy’s value and continue their support.

His firsthand account emphasizes the critical role such initiatives play in the lives of veterans and their families.
