Gunman makes off with 3K cash in Capitol Hill pot shop hold-up

Seattle, WALocal News

Late Friday night, the Ruckus Capitol Hill pot shop in Seattle was the scene of an armed robbery, with the gunman making off with about $3,000 in cash. The suspect, described as a black male in his 40s, wore all black clothing and was armed with a handgun. Following the incident, Seattle Police and K9 units launched an extensive search in the area but were unable to apprehend the suspect before calling off the search at 12:30 AM. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the robbery, which is a relief given the store's history of being targeted. The Ruckus shop has faced similar incidents in the past, including a $5,000 heist in 2018 and a smash-and-grab burglary in 2021.

Meanwhile, The Reef pot shop is working to reopen after suffering significant damage from a previous burglary. The recent trend of robberies at cannabis shops in Seattle underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by these cash-only businesses. Enhanced security measures have been implemented, yet the focus of thieves appears to be shifting towards product rather than cash.
