2nd victim of Everett RV fire dies, officials warn against living in hoarding conditions
A second victim has succumbed to injuries from an RV fire in Everett, raising alarms from the Fire Marshal’s Office about the dangers of hoarding conditions. The woman, who was in her late 30s, died at Harborview Hospital after being rescued by two nearby utility workers when the fire broke out on February 7. Firefighters faced significant challenges due to excessive clutter inside the RV, which hindered their ability to navigate the scene effectively. Tragically, another male occupant was found inside and was declared dead at the scene despite immediate life-saving efforts. The Everett Fire Marshal's Office emphasized that living in hoarded conditions not only increases the risk of fire but also obstructs escape routes for residents.
They urged the community to maintain safety protocols, including clear exits and functional smoke alarms. This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the potential hazards associated with cluttered living spaces. The investigation into the fire's origin continues, with no preliminary evidence suggesting criminal activity.
