Seattle City Council has approved new legislation to launch a pilot program with the South Correctional Entity (SCORE) aimed at diversifying jail options. The program, sponsored by Councilmember Bob Kettle, was negotiated by the team of Mayor Bruce Harrell and allows Seattle to house an additional 20 misdemeanor detainees at SCORE. This move is in addition to the detainees already held at the facility. In addition to tackling crime, Councilmembers have also been involved in various other initiatives. They recognized February 10, 2024, as Lunar New Year and also brought forth a proclamation in February.

The Council has also been proactive in environmental issues, passing legislation to increase the number of electric vehicle charging stations in Seattle. They advanced plans to redevelop Memorial Stadium and released a new tool, the Seattle Budget Dashboard, to aid in budget deliberations. These actions are indicative of the Council's commitment to improving city services and addressing key issues.
